Frequently Asked Questions about the Kentucky Derby Betting Championship:
 
How can I register?
Start the process by filling out our Entry Form, or Contact Gary Palmisano at 502-638-3805 to register directly by phone.
 
What is the participation cost?
$12,000 buy-in of which $8,000 is the player’s bankroll.
 
When and where is the KDBC held?
The KDBC will be held May 3 & 4, 2019, at Churchill Downs. Players may participate at Churchill Downs or online at TwinSpiresTournaments.com
 
How many entries may I purchase?
Players may enter twice either online or on-track.
 
What if I want to play two entries in the KDBC? Can I do this online with TwinSpires?
Yes, you may purchase and play two entries online with TwinSpires. Once the tournament site is ready to accept log-ins, you will be able to log in to play your first entry using your existing TwinSpires username and password. If you choose to purchase, or have won a second entry and want to play it online, a TwinSpires VIP Services team member will contact you and provide you with your username and password for your second tournament account. Both entries must be fully paid before May 2, 2019.
 
If I play two entries, can I play one entry from Churchill and one entry online?
No. Players who are playing two entries must play both entries from the same location, either online with TwinSpires, at Churchill or another satellite facility offering the KDBC.
 
How can I qualify?

  1. PLAY. Enter an online qualifying event at Horseplayers.com or a live qualifying event. Online Feeder contests entry fees start as low as $20
  2. SCORE. Win your $12,000 Kentucky Derby Betting Challenge seat by dominating your qualifying event.
  3. ENJOY. Make a run at the grand prize in the Kentucky Derby Betting Challenge at Churchill Downs on May 4 and 5. You can also play at one of multiple satellite locations, which will be announced at a later date.

 
What is the prize pool?
Of the $12,000 buy-in, $4,000 will be placed in the prize pool. If 75 players enter the Tournament, the minimum total paid in cash and prizes will be $400,000 ($340,000 cash, plus six berths to the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC).
 
How can I play in the KDBC Online?
You will be provided an acccount at TwinSpiresTournaments.com, from which you can wager your KDBC bankroll during the tournament. Contact the TwinSpires marketing team at contests@twinspires.com for information on how to play in the KDBC online.
 
What wager types are available in the KDBC?
Wager types permitted are Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Trifecta and Daily Double ONLY. To avoid penalty, players must comply with the minimum wagering requirements. However, players may bet more than the minimum requirements at any time during the Tournament.
 
What races are available for betting in the KDBC?
Tournament races will include ALL live races from Churchill Downs on Friday, May 3, 2019 and live races through the Kentucky Derby (the "Derby") on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Again, Tournament races include all the undercard races prior to the Derby. The Tournament will end on Saturday, May 4, 2019 with the Kentucky Derby.
